The Site

I put up that new home page, but now I have to change this page. I'm not going to hurry though, since no one reads this or even looks at this site yet.

CD

I'd like to encourage you to buy our CD when it comes out, maybe in a year or two, maybe later. Don't worry, I'll remind you before then.

Thanks.

Waiting patiently

Not much to report from the other "man" of the Man duo. Although I am getting impatient with all the soul searching that's been had trying to figure out the figuring out. Perhaps my camping trip next week will straighten things out for me. Does a bear crap in the woods? Hope not, otherwise I may have to drink myself to oblivion if I step in something. The future is only a rehearsal spot away.

More new songs, but not here

That's right. I have two new songs that kick the ass. I won't be posting them here, although I will post a couple other ones after I record them.

Also, I'm going to add a "mailing list" thing up in here, as that seems to be a popular option on most band websites. I'll get to that at some point.

waiting

Since no one asked for one, here's an update into all things Man:

1. No progress on anything.

I guess that's a little misleading, since really I'm getting the money together to make a real nice recording of two songs (which are not posted here) in order to woo the recording industry and ultimately record an album. Either that, or be done with the whole thing.

Next step: drink alcohol.

news

I thought I should write something on here since it's been a while (although it's been in part because of the 5-day lapse in my DSL service which was far more debilitating than I would have guessed). However, there is no real news to report here. Things with the band are moving along in theory, that is to say I'm talking about it more, but really there has been no measurable progress in over four weeks. I will at least give all zero of you fans a short summary.

I started a new song two days ago, but upon my review yesterday, I decided to abandon it. I was working on an idea of ripping off a Doves drum beat and then dumping in a ripped off Philip Glass chord progression for the verse. As is the case in most of this type of song writing, the results are far worse than my original vision. I have far greater success when I just let it happen. I really should know better by now.

I noticed that Van Helsing got a good review in the Hollywood Reporter, and Variety, though negative, said "the concoction seems far more contrived than plausible, but the sense of evil overkill is entirely representative of the picture itself, which repeatedly looks ready to blow all its fuses due to sensory overload." I find it interesting that the word "plausible" made it into this review, but "ready to blow" and "sensory overload" sound good to me. I'm definitely going. The budget was around $170M, so it can't be that bad, even if it's really dumb.

Coffee

I'm up to several cups of coffee a day. I start with two or three cups at home in the morning (Pete's House that I grind just before brewing (grinder donated by Sean Bonner)) followed by a double latte in the late morning, then another two cups between 3:00 and 4:00. Sometimes I move the latte to the afternoon and leave off the additional coffee. No point here today.

Sightings

Though it was never a goal, I came across my fair share of celebrities while living in LA. Of course everyone who lives there claims to be friends with one or two celebrities. From the bartender who's "great pals" with Stiffler from Dude, Where's My Car ("who might come by the bar later") to the random LA wannabe who "hangs out" with the guy who is in those Cingular commercials ("he's actually really cool"), everyone is obsessed with celebrity out there. When you see someone famous out there, you have to pretend that it's no big deal. I was once told that celebrities deserve to have LA where they can go without feeling hounded all the time. I was unaware there were rules to the whole thing, but I inadvertently adhered to them, not out of respect, but because I just didn't care.

Having said that, yesterday I briefly considered pulling a u-turn after I noticed John Cusack driving past in the other direction.

Matrix 3 sucks

I have an affinity for the motion picture. I try to support any picture that costs over $100M, if only to ensure the production of future, similarly budgeted movies. The downside of such a practice is that sometimes, despite it's baffling price, the end result is a huge pile of crap. Last night I watched that third Matrix movie (which I hadn't seen in the theater). That thing sucks. I would like to post a review, but I can't site anything specific from the movie, perhaps because somehow the thing is two hours long, but doesn't have a single memorable scene. Nothing ever happens. Yeah, there's a war, and flying metal octopus (actually I do remember the pointless robot suits in which the driver is perched up in front, totally open to attack), but there is no story. Not to say a story is completely necessary, but whatever. Who cares. Kill Bill Vol. 2 comes out tomorrow.

Still No Songs Available

You may have noticed that zero songs continue to be available on the site. I'm not certain to whom "you" is referring, since no one is looking at this site, but maybe that makes it all the more appropriate that "you" can't get anything here.

In other news, I changed my cell phone number when I moved here which makes me completely cut off from everyone I knew in Los Angeles. I recommend doing this every three months. In fact, if you're reading this, call your phone company and tell them you want a new phone number. Do that now.

hey

First post. I'm starting a band, and this is the site for said band. Currently, we enjoy ZERO fans. One day I hope to have as many as ten million, but for now, zero will have to suffice. Obviously there's nothing on this site that would compel you to become a fan, so I expect to be hovering around that zero mark for quite a while. I may post some songs soon. I don't know. It's going to be a while until there's a show.
